I did your tests, I removed the battery, and even though it is a much smaller battery that the one in my truck, after a couple tries, it did start my truck up. so, the battery must be good. I cleaned the terminals, took the ground wire off the car and cleaned it and the area it was bolted to. ...

i don'T BELIEVE THAT i CHECKED THE VOLTAGE AT THE SOLENOID...I did check it at the battery itself though. I will check the voltage at the solenoid and get back to you on that though. You don't understand the bench testing that I am doing, so here it is:

this is a very wierd problem. I though for sure that it is the ground connection...I still think so. But, it is getting wierder for me. I can use the jumper cables on both my MG battery and on my truck battery and the starter/solenoid will work on the bench...however, once the starter is installed on the car, i get nothing. ...

i tried to jump the battery with my trucks battery...nothing happend. I hooked the black cable of my jumper cables to my negative (ground) post of my battery and the other end to my starter bolt which holds it to the engine...nothing happened there either...all I every get is a click from the relay. and still, with that ground coming ...

Are you saying to connect the other black cable to the starter bolt that holds the starter to the soleniod, or the bolt on the solenoid that the possitive battery cable should go? I am assuming that you mean the bolt which holds the solenoid to the starter. please confirm. And I am not using the red cables for anything, ...

ok, it can't be the solenoid...$45 for a new one, and i still have the same problem. this is frustrating.
I have a full charge on my battery...i checked the connections at the battery...checked the grounding wire at the rear motor mount under the gearbox...even tested the grounding wire with my test light, and it lit up. ...
