Usually just a minute, long enough to get the parts ready to assemble. Some new gaskets come with a bead of it already applied, so time is not ultra critical. Just a thin film is what you want, do not gob it on. When I apply it, I let the stuff flow out of the tube in a thin stream and allow it to lay on the gasket surface in a ...

rotted out rockers? I'll bet its got more rot you haven't found... yet. I'd look for something more solid. You might consider it for a parts car. I went through 3 when I did mine.

I can't say what speedo you have, but if the odo is reading fast, then the speedo should read fast too. It may be that the head is toast. 1.05 is at the limit of what I'd call accurate, but if memory serves, its not to far out of line with what I've seen
I have an old Vicky brit catalog that I keep for reference and back when you could buy ...

the only thing that comes to mind is a sharp edge on the spigot mounted on the head, cutting the hose from the inside causing hose failure. Either that or you're using the wrong kind of hose, or OEM British rubber.. 1/2'' heater core hose is what you want to use. Just get a section from a local auto parts supplier.

the scissor hinges are correct for a 69 body. They will not interchange with the early style since they sit in a pocket in the firewall.
If you are using a stick, then it means the hood prop is missing. The 69 had a retractable prop mounted to the LH side of the hood. You should see tabs there if the prop is missing. The ...

You can try literally soaking, by rigging up a pan under the drum panel, or by removing the panel and soaking it overnight in a pan of PJ Blaster or liquid wrench. Regular oil probably won't cut it and neither will WD-40 if its really stuck. If you have buggered it up, you will need to find another panel and Ebay comes to mind as a ...

its been awhile, but as best i remember, the grease cap has a stud sticking out of it and all you need is something that threads onto it that you can either hammer or lever. I can't remember if its coarse of fine thread, but its 5/16'' diameter as best i remember.
2 options come to mind. either a threaded rod, and a long nut ...

Well, thats a 1275 all right, but that almost looks like something someone made. Thats a blanking plate to cover the hole for a mechanical fuel pump. I've never seen anything like it. Without an oil separator, it will spew quite a bit of oil out that pipe
Look at the schematics on Moss's site for the 1275 and look at the timing ...

Well, ya got me stumped. have you looked at the schematic diagrams on Moss's site?
The 1275 does not have a cover on the LH side of the engine with a pipe facing down. The breather is on the timing cover and faces up.

The car may not have the original engine in it. There are 3 sizes of ''A series'' engine 948, 1098 and 1275. The 67 - 74 is supposed to have a 1275, but they will swap and bolt up no problem. If it has a pipe coming out of a cover on the side of the block under the manifolds, then that's the crankcase breather and you have ...
