• Re: Reverse light switch

You could connect two wires from the harness where the reverse switch normally plugs in. There are two bullet connectors that break out from your harness in the area of the clutch slave cylinder, on the right (passenger) side of the car. Simply connect ANY switch between those two connectors. When the switch is closed, your lights will be on - ...

  • Re: Reverse light switch

I'm sorry but, after searching, I do not have a picture of where the reverse light switch goes, and I could not find one on the net or in my manuals either! I did remove the boot on mine to see where it goes, (memory ain't what it used to be), but I could not locate it without further disassembly. I seem to remember that it was on the ...

  • Re: Reverse light switch

What you've circled is NOT where the switch goes. I will try to post a picture of the proper placement.

  • Re: Alternator indicator lamp 73 Midget

Believe it or not Steve, my o-scope gets more use than my multimeter! Asides from being able to measure DC voltage, it will also tell you if you have a shorted rectifier diode (or two)! You can actually see the DC unlike what the meter will show. It's just a matter of preference I suppose.

  • Re: Alternator indicator lamp 73 Midget

Hopefully, this will be the last update here... The alternator does not have to be removed to change the brushes. Pull the wiring connector, remove the black plastic cover (2 screws, 1/4'' drive), to expose the brush housing - white plastic. The brush sets are held in there with 3/16'' screws. I inspected the brushes and found them depleted, I ...

  • Re: Alternator indicator lamp 73 Midget

Well, I hope this helps... I did a bit of troubleshooting tonight and determined that the problem must be worn brushes (probably). A check of the book then told me that the brushes have about a 60,000 mile (100,000 km) lifespan. I wish I'd read that first! In any case, I'll be removing the alternator even though my Midget has only 48,000 ...

  • Re: Tough choice?

Sage words from Bill Young about the amount of light and electrical outlets! I have experience in this area, so that's the least of my concerns. Someone in work suggested that I add pinball machines and perhaps a pool table. Then I can walk around with one of those coin changers on my belt. Heck, even if I'm in there alone, it'd be cool!

  • Re: New Midget

Welcome aboard! The fender mirrors are a great look, and original to that car. From what I've read, they were installed at the dealership, so there is no ''exact'' place where they mount. I'd keep them for originality's sake!

  • Re: Tough choice?

This is the tough time. Construction of the shop is nearing an end, but so are my liquid asset$$! Those younger, stronger guys aren't cheap! Outfitting the shop-mahal will come in time as I restock some greenbacks, so the anticipation is overwhelming right now, but that's probably a good thing. It will give me time to seriously consider the ...
