• Re: 67 Sprite paint type

drlucky- How do you know it is original paint? If it's not it could be anything. Generally though, lacquer is much easier to rub out and is softer than enamel. If a fair amount of paint shows up on the buffer when you rub out the car and the paint tends to oxidize easily it probably is lacquer. If a small amount comes off and the car holds a ...

  • Re: Why is my TR3A hard to Start?

Tom- If your car does not have a thermostat in it, install one. This will aid in the warming up. If it does have one but still takes forever you could try blocking off the radiator partially with a piece of cardboard. If the car starts running too hot just reduce the size of the piece until you get it right. Another thing I thought of is ...

  • Re: 1962 TR 4 Oil pump drive shaft (source of engine noise?)

KSD- You can pick up a mechanic's stethiscope at your local parts store. To use it, put it in your ears like a doctor would and touch it to the area where you believe the sound is coming from. The sound will get louder, the closer to the source you get. It's so sensitive, I use it to check if fuel injectors are working or ...

  • Re: The Home Made Car

Ed- I watched them and they were good. It makes you wonder why we take all this stuff so seriously that sometimes we lose sight of the simple joy of making do with what you have available. It reminded me of working on my projects when I was a broke teenager. What I lacked in funds had to be made up for with ingenuity. I was just thinking of ...

  • Re: Too Short for the TR4?

Bill and Wife- So long as she can see over the dash just cut out a maybe three or four inch thick piece of foam in the shape of the seatback and set it behind her to move her up. When not in use you can store it in the trunk. If you want to go all out you could cover it and use matching piping and maybe a nice Triumph patch on it. Or I'm sure you ...

M.B.- I'm concerned. I don't like your quote from your post, ''I have three 3500Ss ...which it now seems I won't get to.'' I hope your health is okay, we'd sure miss you! Sincerely, LCJUTILA

  • Re: Supercharge or 2 litre?

Wyobrit- I'll bet if you put an early MGB head on your later model engine it will lower compression and increase combustion chamber volume which will, with a supercharger, increase power. Has anyone out there tried this? Is this the hot supercharger set-up? LCJUTILA

  • Re: Rear drum adjuster locks in both directions

MT- I wonder if the emergency brake is rusted in the on position. The shoes sound like they are hanging up on the groove they have worn on the inside of the drum. I have some suggestions for loosening it but I would only attempt them on my own car and wouldn't want to be responsible on someone else's. Especially since I can't see the problem in ...
