• Re: Moss brake line questions

Sorry, I have to do a double take. Moss says, ''The 180-830 will tie in as it should'', after Sannyasi has posted a note specifically to say it doesn't. I can only assume it still leaks. Was this issue ever resolved? About the nine lines, Left Rear is listed twice. I think there are only eight steel pipes in the ...

  • Re: High Altitude Driving

It will go rich at high altitude and will appreciate being leaned out. Tuning instructions are always the same, regardless. Turn more lean until it starts to shake. Go slowly back more rich until the shake goes away. Go two flats (1/3 turn) more rich, and you're done. If you want to fine tune from there it's on to ...

  • Re: engine run on

Early carbureted engines (MGA and early MGB) continue fuel feed after ignition is switched off. Cause of run-on is hot spots in the combustion chamber. This hot chamber condition can be aggrevated by ignition being either a little early or a lot late. But even with timing spot on some engines will run on anyway. Any time ...

  • Re: What's that part?

The piece between the piston and the boot is another retaining ring. It looks like a flat washer with a very narrow width. This piece is supposed to hold the boot secure on the pushrod so the boot will flex rather than sliding on the pushrod (wearing the rubber and leaking). See here: ...

  • Re: Help for a first time MGA owner

Charles, Seems I'm a little late in this discussion, but welcome to the mild insanity of MGA restoration. From your messages I know you have far more experience than the average Joe who takes on a full restoration project. The prime ingredients in final success are a passion and determination to see it through without too much ...

Good gawd. I have no idea how that hyperlink got attached to my web page address. I will try it one more time. If this doesn't work you may have to copy and paste the URL to the address bar of your browser. See here: http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/restore/restore.htm#sills Barney Gaylord 1958 MGA with an ...
