• Re: Tough choice?

Sounds fantastic davey. I'm still wrestling with the city management over the right to build my small (24 x 32) shop. Can't wait to see the photos of yours.

  • Re: Do you remember

Zach, I know of a MGB here in OKC that needs a clutch. The current owner got it in a package with another car. I think he has burned out restoring the other and would probably let this one go pretty cheap. I haven't seen it so don't know the condition but he said it sounds good. Can't test drive due to clutch. If you're interested I'd be happy to ...

  • Re: clutch bleed

No, the wrench is similar to a 6 point box end but with one flat cut out. That slips over the hose or pipe then down over the nut. It contacts 5 sides of the nut instead of just 2.

  • Re: Idle, Tachometer, and Fuel Pump

The combination with the tach also hints at the coil going bad with heat.

  • Re: furl pump wiring

You don't say what car you have but, regardless, there should never be a black wire to the fuse box. Commonly there is a white wire from the ignition switch to one fuse with another white from the same side of that fuse goint to the pump. The other side of that fuse has a bunch of green wires. The brown wire should feed the other fuse.

  • Re: Fuel Pump 377-410 (1500 Spitfire) on 1500 cc Midget

Thanks for the explanation, Blaine. We do need an occasional reminder of the fact that the numbers of our favorite toys are shrinking. It's too bad but understandable that economics don't really favor us.

  • Re: Floor Pans

Glad to hear you got it done. I think you'll be fine with plug welds as long as you used enough and sealed it well with seam sealer.

  • Re: ?Speedometer?

davey, what you said above sounds like the odo is already turning 5% faster than it should if it reads 1.05 for every actual mile.

  • Re: grose jet and float

Sounds like you didn't set the floats right. Usually the Grosse jets are set significantly different than others.

  • Re: Fuel Gauge

Glad to hear you got it working. That's kind of an understatement on the tiny wires. I just yesterday had to repair a broken wire and an old solder joint that was not conducting for a Jag XK140. That's probably the same gauge as yours. Might have been easier when I was younger and had numble fingers and actual working eyes.
