• Re: Leaky radiator drain tap

Well, so far so good. Two trips and no drips, seepage or dribbles.

  • Re: Leaky radiator drain tap

I returned to the problem yesterday.... The radiator drain tap had continued to drip, very slowly but persistantly. I also remembered fitting a similar new drain tap to the block during the rebuild. Sure enough, this was wet with coolant. This is a nuisance I removed both, dismantled them and could easily tell that they were leaky with ...

  • Re: Tough choice?

Speaking as one who has done all the major stuff on his car in a draughty car port.... that sounds fantastic! Can't wait to see some pictures when you have time. Cheers, Ed

  • Re: Pressure Plate

I played with the old clutch from my MGB. I could only activate the pressure plate ''manually'' by bouncing on it as if it were a springboard. I weigh about 190lbs... If you think about the pressure one normally applies to the pedal, and multiply that by the mechanical advantages of the pedal arm, Hydraulic system and release arm combined, you can ...

  • The Home Made Car

If you watch one Youtube offering this weekend, then please enjoy this little gem (in three parts): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUikL3N2meI&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FSQaSeumSg&NR=1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3HMidGFtPY&NR=1 A thoughtfull fellow over at the MG owners' club posted these, and ...

  • Re: Fuel gauge problem

lcjutila: Davey- Drive backward to work and forward on the way home. The odometer won't change so you won't be using any petrol. Not so fast! those fiendish boffins at Smiths had that loophole covered by their cunning ratchet link mechanism... you'll only add miles and use more petrol. What I want to know is when classic petrol will be ...

  • Re: Supercharge or 2 litre?

Hey Motorbill - didn't realise you were a Rover collector as well. The P6 is fondly remembered by lads of my age as the Motorway Patrol car. I'm pretty sure there was a Matchbox/Dinky model that nearly every kid had in their toy garage! As for the original poster, I cant offer much except to comment on aluminium flywheels. One ...

  • Re: Extreme smoking after head rebuild

I don't know the AH 3000 very well, but does it have a PCV valve? My MGB does, and once I fitted this back together incorrectly, and it started hoovering oil out of the crank case and blowing clouds of smoke. Worth checking perhaps... I'll leave other ideas to the Healy experts. Best of luck, Ed

  • Re: Do you remember

I grew up in Britainland, and fondly remember the occasions (every 3 years or so) when we had a new car. No MGs, but I just remember, at age 5, we had our first really new car. A brand new Mini Clubman finally arrived and I remember Mum Dad and I riding out of the showroom in Nottingham, feeling just a little bit like royalty.... Of ...
