• Re: Floor Pans

I have always used welding myself , but Tony Barnhill's Autoist site has detailed procedures for using an adhesive for replacing MGB floor pans. The link is: http://www.theautoist.com/fusor.htm

  • Re: Engine Numbers

BHM1111 is the British Leyland part number for an 18V engines,18V846/847. E is exchange. 125206 is the serial number. What you most likely have is a factory ''Gold Seal'' engine, painted gold instead of the normal MG red or black. I understand these engines were installed under factory warranty or by owners purchasing the engines outright.

  • Re: Seat bottom diaphram.

I'm not sure about changing the seat diaphram, but I have added the foam to existing seat cushions just you described. It does help where the seat cushions have compressed with age. I have used two different types. I used 2 inch foam from a local hobby shop, medium density; it worked great. I have also glued old carpet padding together, three ...

  • Re: steering wheel

#222-315 fits 16.5" wheels, this would fit early MGBs from 1962 to 1969. From 1970 to 1979, MGB the steering wheel size decreased to 15". The 1980 Limited Edition has even a smaller wheel , I believe it is 14". #222-315 would be too loose for these wheels.

  • Re: steering wheel

Joel, You may want to "steer clear" of that ebay find. The spines are the same, so technically it will work; but the 77 used a stalk horn instead of a center button. So in addition you would need to replace the left stalk switch to the 77 version having turn signal, horn, headlight dimmer. If you are trying to improve the ...

  • Re: clutch on '77 MGB

I applaud your tenacity. You have tried all the workarounds and problem shooting techniques I know, to no success. I have run of ideas. I will continue to monitor this thread, I know you will triumph.

  • Re: clutch on '77 MGB

Well at least you know the starter is working, on the bench that is. In these situations it is best to take a fresh start, a reboot. All power starts at the battery. Remove the battery and test it. Will the battery in the MG start your truck? Before placing the battery back in MG, clean the battery terminal clamps. Auto parts stores carry a ...

  • Re: Weber carbs

I believe you have the the Weber 38DGES (electric choke) . Just to be sure, does it have a manual, water , or electric choke? My best guess is the choke is not working correctly, and is fact not releasing. It will start cold, but starts to "load up" after the engine warms. Check you spark plugs, are they black with soot? I have not ...

  • Re: Water collecting on floor

Do you mean to say your MG leaks in the rain? Welcome to British motoring! I always assumed the leaks were an intended design feature, not a defect. My MG has been leaking on me for over 30 years. I tried to stop the leaks early on, and just threw in the towel. So now I carry a couple of them, towels that is. My British Union Jack towel is my ...

  • Re: 1976 MGB with Weber 32/36 Carb

What type of fuel pump are you using? The weber requires a low pressure pump 2-3PSI. The SU pump that came stock with your MGB works great, since it's output is 2.7PSI. If don't have an SU pump the fuel pressure may be too high, if so the needle valve and float in the weber will not close and the fuel bowl will completely fill. Have ...
