First gasket set went over like a lead balloon... Leaked way worse... Dropped the pan again and sure'nuff, the rear cork strip had slipped caty-corner/pinched while installing. So I ordered the Payton set from Moss... tediously cleaned and carefully re-done-did everything again as previously suggested/prescribed (I used a little ...

Howdy,
I'm hopefully within just a couple of weeks days/tweaks of actually trying to street a project '68 Sprite. Upon aquiring it years ago I belatedly noted that it didn't have rearview side mirrors (if there were original mountings in the doors the PO filled in the holes) so I'd bought a set of Lucas repro fender mirrors which have always ...

Thanks for the suggestions Bob, I don't know what/how to look into to troubleshoot it though. It's essintially newly rewired headlights to taillights, but I got ignorant and installed a complete set of aftermarked gauges including a voltmeter and since they use sending units I piggybacked quite a bit of addiontial wiring onto the new factory loom ...

Thanks again motorbill, but my impatience got the best of me and I installed it anyway. Took better part of morning throughout the afternoon but it ''felt'' like it went together well enough... My fingers are crossed that the cork inserts didn't lay over into the pan while I was getting the first couple of bolts started. I ...

Thanks again motorbill,
I spent the afternoon getting the oil pan off and cleaning the surfaces finishing w/brake parts cleaner and have ''squared off'' the pan's lip with a dowle and rubber mallet against a true plane. I've aquired a jar of the Permatex Aviation gasket maker stuff. While at that particular local parts store I was amazed ...

Just got my Sprite running after ~5+years. It didn't have a Dash so I made my own out of Oak and rewired with a new Moss harness and regauged it w/an aftermarket gauge kit and did up the dash in a ''Mark One-esque'' style/approach that came out pretty slick (pure accident). It's got an alternater conversion and I also threw in a Flame Thrower ...

Appreciate the reply/info motor!
I'd think I could do it as I had easy'nuff access to verify that all the nuts were snug while being fully under the car. I've already ordered a gasket kit amongst some other stuff.
I got her booted up and running! A total rewire piggybacked with an aftermarket auto meter insturment/gauge kit's wiring, ...

Howdy, on verge of wrapping up a ''budget resto'' on a '68 sprite and about to try and start'er for first time in ~5 years (last registered/plated in 1980). The Tranny has always had an apparent/asumed ''small'' leak with the ever present drop hanging off of the lowest rib, but it didn't appear to be ''too'' bad and the puddle hadn't been growing ...

Pool,
Been following this thread w/interest... I have a Sprite thats been freshly wired to be in the MKII (1963''ish'') range. It already has a clean/newish looking Lucas Sport Coil that a P.O installed. As part of my re-wire/re-gauge project I installed a Flame Thrower Distributor from Moss... Will I need a different coil to work ...

I installed a Web DGV on my '68 Sprite a couple/three years ago and acting on the advice of an old school Brit/Italia mechanic/restorer friend I bought a stock MGB accelerator cable and it is much shorter than Spriget and works perfectly and is apparently right at the appropriate length/lay. I'm a little vague as to which MGB carb setup ...
