• Re: Leaking cylinder head pushrod tubes

Sorry for the delay in replying, I have been on holiday. The PCV (positive crankcase ventilation valve) is supposed to allow air to be sucked from the valve cover and engine crankcase into the inlet manifolds when the engine is running. Parts for the PCV are limited and there were different 'types' to choose from. The OE part number supplied ...

  • Re: TR4 surrey top seals

Surrey Hard Top to screen capping rubber seal - use Triumph part number 806144. Same item as TR6 Hardtop to screen capping seal. Shiny aluminium screen capping to screen frame - use a non setting body mastic to stop ingress of moisture It is in the Moss Europe TR2-4A parts book. Cheers Peter W

  • Re: Leaking cylinder head pushrod tubes

Interesting Are all the tube bottoms, where they go back into the head, oily? Wash and wipe them all and re run the engine to see where it is leaking. The push rod tubes are aluminium and are 'swaged' into countersinks machined in the head top and bottom faces. To re-tighten in the top face (where the oil is probably dripping ...

  • Re: Front and rear end Redone, Now Camber is off

I recall seeing the top trunnion fitted 180 degrees out on a Sprite/Midget some years ago, giving a very odd camber angle. Are you sure the trunnions are not rotated to the wrong position? This could be a complete red herring Cheers Peter

  • Re: Single SU Intake for my 948 Sprite?

Take a look at what the Mini spares suppliers offer- Try Somerford Mini, MiniMachine, MiniSport, Mini Spares, Mini City, Play Mini etc. Or try Burlen Fuel Services, see what they have to offer. There was a thing called a 'Torque Master Manifold' that was for single SU's it was claimed to be the business over ...

  • Re: TR3A girling axle

There are no published backlash dimensions to my knowledge. First you need to drive out the cross pin lock pin - it goes out away from the crown wheel and is locked back in place by a burr across the hole on the non crown wheel side of the carrier. Check the cross pin for wear and renew as reqd. (pt no 100844) Check the gear teeth for ...

  • Re: Can anyone give me more info on my tr3a?

Contact The TR Register in Didcot England office at office@tr-register.co.uk Bill Piggot the Archivist has access to the orig factory build records and offers a search service at a reasonable price. Your TS number is too long it could be TS 53558 0 L - Which would mean it had Overdrive from new and is LHD. The engine number is in ...

Once refilled - Do not forget to 'pump' the levers up and down through their full range of movement to expel all air that may be in them. Peter W PS Uprated relief valves are available for the rear shocks from Moss Europe http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=414

  • Re: spin on oil adapters

The item is excellent!!! The spin-on oil filter adaptors sold in the UK for TR5/6/250 Innsbruck 2000/2.5PI /GT6 etc fit to the block in place of the orig oil filter housing assy and turn the oil filter through 90 deg. so it hangs down, rather than being bolted sideways to the oil gallery. This means the oil filter is full of oil when you ...

  • Re: Engine runs from good to bad

Rough running and lack of power can be attributed to coil malfunction - The bad running may well be ignition related - Is it possible the new ignition coil has been wired wrongly? The low tension + ve terminal goes to the ignition supply and the - ve goes to the distributor - assuming you have a - ve earth car, which is correct for all TR6 s. If ...
