1976 gas tank installation- need help!

Is there a way to modify the available gas tanks to fit a 1976 MGB?  The only tanks that are available fit earlier models, up to 1975 and have an angled filler tube from the tank.  Is it possible to cut the angled part of the filler tube on the tank so that the rubber filling tube will fit to the tank properly?  If this is possible, what is the best way to cut the tube?

Also, any suggestions on a brand of undercoating for the top of the tank?

    Thanks!

Since you have powder coated the tank, have you thought of taking it to a welding shop and have a new filler neck put on it?  They could fabricate most anything you want.  Look for a Hot Rod shop, as they have to change alot on those cars.

just use the filler neck and hose from the cars with the angled tank, I have done it lots of times and it works perfect

I was able to find a filler tube from an earlier year MGB on eBay.  I'm hoping this will work, so that I won't have to modify the tank.  The tube has a curve in it, and it has a short rubber tube to the tank.  Will this work?  How will I get the existing tube out of the grommet in the body?  Seems tough to get out.  Is there a trick to getting it out?
