    1960 TR3A

I have a 60 registered 59 tr3a TS52XXX that I got back on the road 2 weeks ago after I had parked it in the garage in 1983.  Purchased the car in 1975 from a Navy man who had driven it from California in 1972.  It is signal red with black interior. Just installed the soft top last evening.  Rebuilt the mechanicals in 2000 and have been piddling on it ever since.  It spent 16 months in the body shop even though it was rust and mostly ding free.  The guy just didn't work on it very often or very long.  He did a respectible job and even painted the trunk lid 3 times to get it to his satisfaction.  I did a frame on resto and even though it was hard would do the same again.  Bought side curtains in 2000 (SlimEd packed them) Right one fit perfectly, left one rear bar was welded in on a tilt so had to jury rig by bending it (can't ask someone to replace after 6 years of me holding on to it.  May try to order just the left curtain.  The car runs well, actually drove it to breakfast last Sunday.  May try to trace prior owner(s) one day.  Possibly on this forum?  Thanks to Moss for carrying the parts that I have needed and the quick response to questions. Can we post photos?

    Hi Billy,

Have you checked out British Heritage Motor Industry Trust?

You can send them your VIN and they will send you back a certificate with all kinds of build info, including the original paint color, the upholstery color, which dealer it was shipped to and when.  It cost me $40 when I did it a couple years ago but it was worth it.  Someone had swapped VIN plates on me, and they were able to give me the correct VIN number and year when I supplied them with the body and engine numbers.  It might be a good place to start your genealogy research.
