A couple issues ago, our British Motoring magazine covered some very good technical aspects of the TR6 - including the use of modern suspension!

Read the whole thing HERE (pages 28-30) - warning it is in PDF format and about 6 MB.

EDIT - there is an even more in-depth article in the Fall 2005 issue where we included a "How-To" step-by-step section for your reference - read it HERE (pages 18-19) - also a PDF issue, about 5.5 MB in size.

Replacing the shock is not a difficult task. You can do it easily on a couple of jack stands and your basic Craftsman tools. Not sure what kits are out there.Check Moss and The Roadster Factory.TRF usually has TRF kits with all the components needed.

Re: Replacing Lever Shocks Good/Bad ?

Make sure to use a kit that does not mount the upper end of the shock to the inner fender well. There are some out there. The ones I favor do not even require drilling or welding. Pure nut and bolt. One caution. Though these installations seem to offer a superior damper they change the force direction (vector) impinging on the shock mount and tend to out it in a bend mode instead of the shear mode they were designed to accept. This doesn't generally cause too much trouble as the mounts are pretty stout stuff. But if I really have a car apart while doing this job I'll gusset against the potential problem. Just look your mounts over carefully before completing the installation.
