    73 MGB Electrical question

My 73' MGB's headlights won't switch to high beams. Also when you turn on the lights in the parking position the tail lights and dash lights go out.  I started once looking at the wiring at he switch and from the fuse box forward. The switch was fired correctly but the front harness from the fusebox to the head lights seem wrong.  Has anyone got photo of the wiring in this area?  I have all the shop manuals and can read schematics.  Just need to see what it is suppose to look like so I can repair.  If anyone has had this problem let me know.

    Re: 73 MGB Electrical question

Do you have a test light or a meter?

With the headlight switch in the off position, does the flash to pass function of the stalk switch work?

Is the headlight switch connected properly?

pin 1 - blue wire, goes to turn signal switch

pin 2 - brown wire, constant power supply.

pin 3 - red/green wires, one connects to the panel dimmer switch, one connects to the top left terminal of the fuse box.

A faulty column switch can cause headlight failure.

Wiring diagrams are available at http://www.advanceautowire.com click on stock schematics.  The diagrams are easy to read an enlarge.
