    tr3a clutch

I was warned about this. Getting to the nitty gritty and ready for the maiden voyage. Pressure plate siezed, disc siezed? Just bled slave and it's harder then the brake pedal. Don't want to break the fork or the cross shaft but don't want to pull the trans. Can anyone help with this one?

    Re: tr3a clutch

The pressure plate can freeze to the flywheel, but this means the clutch pedal  works but the clutch does not disengage from the engine, so you can not get into gear.

So if the thing has been bled by pumping the clutch pedal we might assume the master cyl is working OK.

Is the clutch slave pushrod correctly adjusted?

Is the piston in the slave cylinder seized?

If you remove the pushrod from the cross shaft lever and gently push the pedal a small way does the piston at the slave cyl move? Worst that can happen is the piston drops out and you will need to re-bleed. Get a friend to help.

With the push rod at the  slave cyl removed can you get any movement on the cross shaft lever by hand (in either direction) It should go toward the slave cyl a bit.

If both are doing the right thing I fear its box out time and look at what is happening with the clutch cover

Peter, Just out of the garage after four hours with the sweet smell of victory. It was the pressure plate(i guess you call it the clutch cover over there). Took off the flywheel inspection cover got a long bar and tapped the flywheel every few inches all the way around. Three quaters of the way I could start to hear the springs making noise. Finished up reassembled and with a little pedal pressure she broke free. At least I don't have to pull it now. Thank You for the intrest in my journey and now we BOTH know how it's done.  Steve

I am glad you could fix your problem. Happened to me once (son's Mini) that the rubber hose that connects to the slave cylinder had gone south and the clutch pedal felt like the brake.

Glad to hear all is coming together.

    Enjoy it when it's running.
