Rear drum adjuster locks in both directions

    hi all,

I'm in the process of repairing the rear drums on my 1991 Mini.I've picked up new shoes, return springs, adjusters, wedges and wheel cylinders and now just need to fit them all. The problem is I can't remove the drum.

I've managed to unstick the drum from the back plate, which it was previously rusted to. Now though, it is getting stuck on the shoes. I've tried turning the adjuster, but it will only turn about 1/8 turn in each direction and no matter which direction I turn it causes the drum to lock up.

Any ideas what is causing this, or how I can go about removing the drum?

    MT-

I wonder if the emergency brake is rusted in the on position. The shoes sound like they are hanging up on the groove they have worn on the inside of the drum. I have some suggestions for loosening it but I would only attempt them on my own car and wouldn't want to be responsible on someone else's. Especially since I can't see the problem in person.

    Don't worry,  you'll get it.
