    Moss Wiring Harness

I am in the process of rewiring my "A" with a Moss wiring harness..  A the rear of the harness after the right rear signal/brake/tailight strands and before the left rear signal/brake/tailight strands are two four way connectors 3 red wires and 3 black wires (propery connected all red to red all black to all black via the four way connectors). There is an additional 4 way connector with 2 green and purple wires to it.  There is also a loose green and red wire and a green and white wire also at this location. They can connect to nothing beyond this location because of wire lengths and the location within the harness.  They also have bullet conectors soldered to these ends.  All other tail light wiring and plate lamp lighting beyond is complete.  Any idea where these go?

    Thanks,

    Rich

    Re: Moss Wiring Harness

My guess is that they sent you the wiring set for a MGA 1600, as these are the right color codes for the 1600 rear turn-signal lamps.

Hmmm.  I have a 1600 and these wires appear in a portion of the harness that in no way could be attached directly to the turn signal lamps, yet no where elese to connect them.  Any other guesses?

    Re: Moss Wiring Harness

Rich.  Your question is confusing. The wiring colors should tell you the functions of the wires for the 1600.

Your 1600 should have mounting plinths on the rear fenders that have two lamp units. One 2" diameter flasher lamp and then the main lamp which has a dual filament bulb for stop and running light.

Here are the wiring color codes.

green/red  feeds the Left Rear flasher lamp

green/white feeds the Right Rear flasher lamp

green/purple feeds the stop lamp filaments in the main lamps

red feeds the side light fillaments in the main lamps and also the licence plate lamp.

black is the ground for all the lamps.

    hope this helps
