    surging and jerking under acceleration.

    75 mgb.

Went out for a drive sun and about 20 min into the drive the car started surging and jerking under acceleration. Problem went away after a couple of minutes. Made it home and problem started again as we pulled in the driveway. The engine died once we gat it in the garage. Anybody have any ideas where to start.

    Thanks.

Kinda reminds me of a fuel filter that needs changing.

    Right on poolboy-

I was thinking bad gas (gasoline that is) or water in fuel.

Definitely sounds like fuel starvation. I would check the electric fuel pump, they are famous for being unreliable.

Re: surging and jerking under acceleration.

Pull the fuel filler cap the next time the problem occurs and see if that cures it.  If it does, you have a clogged fuel tank vent.  If that doesn't fix the problem, go the the article, Fuel Delivery Troubleshooting Guide in the SU Fuel Pump Articles section of my web site at:  http://homepages.donobi.net/sufuelpumps/ for more tips on troubleshooting fuel problems.  Contrary to popular opinion, the SU electric fuel pumps are perfectly reliable if treated properly and are not worn out from 30 years of use without any maintenance.
