Pull the fuel filler cap the next time the problem occurs and see if that cures it. If it does, you have a clogged fuel tank vent. Contrary to popular opinion, the SU electric fuel pumps are perfectly reliable if treated properly and are not worn out from 30 years of use without any maintenance.
