    weber carb on 77 mgb

Kicked my self enough already for running the 77mgb out of gas and trashing out the weber 32/36 DGEV.  I since rebuilt the carb with a kit purchased locally from a parts dealer specializing in older imports.

The kit included a new accelator pump but installion of it does not allow the linkage to fully engauge so I used the older pump and cleaned it up first, the carb had quite a bit of trash and I did find the filter in the carbuator and clean it, installed new inline filter too and it seems to be getting pleanty of fuel.  At this point I still can not get the car to start and idle. It will start and run briefly at about 2500+ rpm (after much trying) but I cant get it idle or stay running even at the higher rpm.

     Any ideas?

    rraley-

May still have junk in the line which partially clogged float valve causing fuel starvation?

it seems to pump fine when disconnected at the carb and empty into a coffee can.  Can points not work at low rpm I can get it to run at about 2500+rpm just fine but no idle werid 7 weeks now scratching my head.   help

For whatever reason, it sounds like the idle circuit, which on a Weber actually accounts for idle and almost half of throttle open position supply, is not contributing. Do you have a Weber book? The Haynes one is decent and allows you to discover just what is needed for proper operation. You may actually have lost a small check ball or some such thing. The diagrams in the book are pretty comprehensive. Give it a go and let us know how you do.
