replacing original michelin redline 185-15 tires on 1974 TR-6

I am original owner 1974 TR-6. I have the original michelin redlines on the car. the car has 45k miles on it. I have recently joined a british car club and have been tooling around with the car.  All the other club members say I am risking totaling the car with these old tires......I know they are right. I would like to keep the redline look, but I know I can't get Michelins anymore.  Several web searchs have linked me to this problem...but most are from 2006.  One company...diamond back out of south Carolina seem s to deal with a replacement  with 205/70/R15.  I 'm looking for advice from anyone on how to tackle this problem.....I want the best redline with the most original look.

    thank you  TR garrett

Yes, you are taking a risk on those old tires. Tires do have a "shelf life" even though the tread isn't worn down. I definitely would advise replacing them for the sake of your safety. Have you tried Coker tire for the red lines? http://www.cokertire.com/  They show a nice BFGoodrich red line radial in 185 70 or 205 70 for around $170 per. http://store.coker.com/radial-redline-tires/b.f.-goodrich-silvertown/ and also some nice tires in the  Coker Classic line as well.

This is about as close to the original tire as you're likely to find and will definitely put you on the safe side of your driving.
