Hi all,
Ive been stripping down my 77 roadster and fixing all the necessary bits and bobs and I have a couple of questions that the experts here might be able to answer!
Could anyone provide any sort of spacing/measurement for the hood attachment points on the upper part of the rear wing..? My NEW hood would not attached to one of the poppers on the passenger side, it was at least a cms to far to the rear of the car. Having seen a number of repair panels on the chasis Im almost certain that this car has already undergone some serious resotration previously and I suspect these poppers were not put in the correct place last time.
I am trying to repair the front wings as I cannot afford new ones (£300!!) and was wondering if anyone has a good example of a front wing without the chrome strips on that they could photograph for me for reference. My wings again have had some previous repair and I am not happy about the shape of the ridge where the chrome strip attaches.
Its being painted as far as I can tell the original Carmine Red. Some sill work had been carried out and a thick strip of waxoyl was sprayed along the sill upto the bottom of the door. This has now all been removed and the sills tidied up and repaired but Im unsure if there is meant to be a matt/semi gloss black line along the sill of the car at all or if the entire area is sprayed the same body colour.
My hood frame as been sand blasted and repainted and looks great. The stress of the blasting has worn away two of the rivets. Can you get these rivets replaced/bought are they pop rivets that can be fitted at home..? I havent seen them in the moss catalogue. The frame is in excellent order otherwise.
I read somewhere Im sure (but cant find it again) about improving the performance of the stock SMITHS heater fan unit by using a different wire to power the unit..this might shorten the life of the motor I guess but it is woefully weak as it stands.
Thanks all, any help greatly appreciated.
