After Parked Knocking at higher RPMS and low oil pressure

    Dear Techs,

I am a new owner of my first MGB 1969.  I have it for about 3 years.  It has a supposibly newly rebuilt motor which runs strong. I have read all posts, but cannot find the answer I need. The problem:  While driving and idling I noticed the oil light would come on and it would want to stall until completely warmed up.  Last summer we took it for our yearly short drive around town and it was running well.  We stopped at a store for a few moments and parked it.  When I came out and started it I heard a knocking and noticed very low oil pressure so I immediately shut it off, looked under the car for oil, and checked the amount of oil in the crankcase.  All were well. I started it again and drove it home (a couple of blocks).  On the drive home I noticed the knock was louder at higher RPMS and almost no knock at low rpms and at idle.  The motor has and oil cooler and oil filter adapter.  I suspect the oil pressure relief valve or oil pump and worst case a spun bearing.  I am wondering what to check first? I am wondering why this occured after it was parked rather then while driving it?

I have so far checked the guage and it works.  While checking the guage I noticed fuel shooting out of the pipe located on the float chamber for the SUs.  Can you please give me guidance on a fix for this as well?

    THank you,

If you have a knock, it's definately a problem that needs solved. I don't have a suggestion yet. The carb problem is easier though. The float needle valve is not working right so that the fuel level is too high in the bowl. There are several common causes but, since it has been running all right for a while, the most likely is the needle and seat. It is either sticking and no closing properly or it is worn so that it does not seal.

Thank you for your reply.  I appreciate the help.  I will look at the shop manual for the specs on the needle and how to resurface, replace, or

    adjust it.  Thank you again,
