    1970 MGB-GT heater controls

I am pulling the dash out of my GT to re-cover it as part of a more-or-less complete daily driver rebuild. How do the knobs on the heater controls come of? The temp control on the left side has a hole in the side with what looks like a set screw in it and the one on the right side has a larger hole but I cannot find anything that loosens either knob. Also how does the oil pressure switch come out of the dash? I can't see anything like the retainers on the other gauges and can barely get one hand on it.

     Thanks

The knobs on your heater control come off by using a stiff piece of wire (that fits in the hole). Simply push in on at the hole and pull the knobs off. You may have to use an eye dropper and apply some lubricant in the hole.  Don't know about the oil pressure gauge.

I can't remember how the oil pressure gauge comes out. I do know, that when I had my dashboard redone, it was easier to remove the main gauges before the dash came out of the car. Since I have a spare gauge at home, I'll take a look.

Sorry it's taken me awhile to get back to you. Anyway, looking at the spare oil pressure gauge I have...it has two tabs which are bolted into the dashboard from behind. When I took my car apart years ago, I took out the main gauges, but left the oil pressure one in place. It's easier to access the bolts that way. I should also mention, to be careful with the gauge bezel--it's easily bent, and not available from anyone!
