Engine Cranking Hesitates When I Hit Starter

I am trying to time my MGB ignition. I am close but when I first hit the starter the engine hesitates / struggles then kicks over. I have been told that the timing may be too far advanced. I tried to retard the timing but still have the same problem. Any Ideas would be much apreciated. Thanks.

Try setting the timing to TDC statically. If it still does this, it's not a timing issue. It may well be a bad starter, connection, or battery. On the other hand, it DOES sound like a way over advanced ignition setting. Hmm, let us know what you find.
