    Wiring Question

I am in the process of installing a new Moss wiring harness in my MGA.  Things are going along relatively well.  Now at a stuck point I thought it wise to pursue some advice from you folks here at the forum.  I would like to know which wire goes where on the dipper (dimmer) switch.  I can't see any markings on the switch irself.  Is this something I can puzzle out using a continuity tester?  Would someone be kind enough to check thiers out and describe which wires go awhere?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

What year is your MGA, and for which market was it made?

It's a blue wire that comes from the switch - terminal 2.

    Re: Wiring Question

It’s not easy looking at the terminals of the dipper switch when it’s installed on the car.

But fairly easy to find out which is the input/common pole and which poles are for the hi-beam or low-beam when the dip switch is in your hand. The only thing you need to do is identify the input pole. Attach one end of the continuity tester to a pole.  Touch the other two poles; only one will make contact, click the switch, try the other pole. If that then makes contact, then the pole that you first attached the tester to is the input pole, if not, then try the same steps again, but attach the tester to the next pole. You only have three poles, one of them has to be the input/common pole.

    Re: Wiring Question

    See here: http://www.mgaguru.com/mgtech/electric/et114.htm

Hold the switch vertical.  The center terminal is common (blue wire input).  The other two terminals are interchangeable.
