    continous miss firing

    Hi

    i am having a bit of problem with my 1991 mini 1000 it is continually miss firing when the engine is working although it is ticking over fine also when it is not miss firing there isa major drop in performance of the engine. Has anyone else had this problem and can you hep me?

    mini stig,

    Check the ignion wires, coil and above all else, SPARK PLUGS.

    davey's right, and check the distributor cap for "tracking" as well. This will appear as a "picture of lightning" leading from one or more of the posts to a spot where the cap touches ground, like the distributor body. Sometimes it's dirt, and a thorough cleaning is all that's needed. This is especially true of the coil's plastic nose. Let us know how you make out.
