    BJ8 Gear Box Lubricant

I'm restoring a BJ8 (1967) and am at the point of reassembling the gearbox with O/D unit. What lubricant is recommended (brands, formulation characteristics and viscosity)?  The manual recommends engine oil, but it was written in the 1960's...a lot of progress has been made in lubricants over the past 40+ years and the old "classic" oils are difficult to find in the USA.  Is Redline MTF (or other synthetic oils) recommended?  Thanks for your assistance.

    Glenn,

Use Castrol GTX 20W50. Add one of those synchro improvement additives if you like. But the 20 50 is the way to go.
