Help: Increase the Compression of a 1500 B-series L-comp Engine

    Hello,

Can anyone please advice me how to turn a 1500 low comp. AustinCambridge B-engine to a High compression MGA engine. I got this low-comp 1500 eng from a 1960 Austin Cambridge sedan that I intend to put on a MGA.

Do I just need to change the pistons to that of the MGA or instead shave the cylinderhead ?

I sincerely appreciate it. Thank you so much.

    Emil

To build to stock MGA spec you would need the pistons, camshaft and head from an MGA engine.  Those parts are different on the Austin.

Emil, How about this possibility?  - - -   Do up the Cambridge engine as is, head and everything, keep it as a low compression engine etc. Then spend the big money on a supercharger and upgraded camshaft from our host! Because you are putting it on a L.C. engine  you would be able to run with  bigger-than-stock crank-pulley?? Lots of knowledgeable expertise on this site for advice.    Cheers      - - - -  -  steve
