Hi all I've got  a 99h thou engine I'm partially rebuilding and a mg metro engine I've just destrroyed (cracked block cracked head) I would like to move the electronic dizzy and spindle from the mg and put it in the thou but advice is split. One school of thoiught says no problem in doing that whilst another says the spindle won't match up with the camshaft. Has anyone tried to do this or has anyone got the definitive answer.

The 99H prefix means it's a 998cc engine so not an MG Metro as these were all 1275cc units! The main problem is you need to identify whether you have an A series or an A+? A series is the earlier unit but any 25D dizzy will fit whether it's from a 998cc or a 1275cc! The later cars A+ will also use the same dizzy including the electronic unit found on the MG Metro (amplifier on side of dizzy) the later cars use a 45D 49D dizzy and the easy way to till if it's the A+ unit is it's held in place with a fork type clamp the earlier one has a full clamp and usually a thumb wheel on the vac unit! So there are only 2 types of drive early and late. Hope that helps

Sorry you misread.  My mg mtero 1275cc engine is the one I have cracked the block and head of.  The 99h 998cc engine is the one that came with my 1975 clubby estate, which was taken out in favour of the mg metro lump.  Now that the 1275 is broken I'm rebuilding the 998 before putting it into the clubby, but is it possible to take the mg metro dizzy(and associated spindle) off the 1275 and put it onto the 998, 99h...
