    Front Suspension Kit

I was informed that moss would soon be selling either the same front suspension kit as The "Frontline" kit or a kit very similar that replaces the lever shock with a mount that carries a conventional upper control arm. Then either incorporates a coil over shock or a tube shock and the stock spring mount assy.

Anyone know anything about availability and or cost?

Not sure where you got the information from, at the moment there is no availability of such a kit from Moss.

The Frontline kit looks pretty nifty and we would be happy to offer it, if there was sufficient interest.

    Re: Front Suspension Kit

If the front shoks are in good condition...no leakage and no play in the output shaft bushing, and the rest of the front end pieces (such as bushings etc) are in good shape, the car should perform well.

Save your money for something else. The Frontline kit is a lot of $$/pounds plus shipping to '"over here" .

    Re: Front Suspension Kit

Unfortunately the stock suspension, no matter how good of shape, is not going to be up to the task.

Just too much twisting will take place decelerating hard with the big brakes, and sticky modern tires will play hell with the geometry when loaded hard.

Spending 4-5k on the Toyota twincam, figured it'd be kinda silly to have the car darting around on the brakes and changing arcs mid corner.

A friend of mine is a machinist, fabbing the front upper control arms and carriers isn't out of the question either.

    Re: Front Suspension Kit

    jayrz,

We'll probably be installing the Frontline kit in the Bugeye we're restoring/modifying right now in the shop. I'll try to keep you posted. We'll also be upgrading the brakes and the rear suspension as well. You should stop by and see what we're up to when you have the opportunity. Stay in touch.

    Re: Front Suspension Kit

    Bill,

Thanks, I'll definately come by and see it. What I am curious about with the Frontline kit is whether the camber is adjustable without using the offset bushings I have now, and hate. An eccentric that is actually clamped in place would be much better.

What are the plans for the rear?

    Re: Front Suspension Kit

Frontline kit has camber buit-in to the design, so you would still need offset bushings to vary it.

    Re: Front Suspension Kit

    jayz,

No, it certainly isn't cheap, but it's well made and includes nice adjustable shocks and urethane bushings. We've got it installed, along with a bunch of other upgrades in the "dry buildup" we're doing before paint on the Bugeye. Whether it's worth the money depends on your own sense of value, but frankly, I'd put the money there before I'd put the same amount in an engine upgrade. So, take thy pick.

    Re: Front Suspension Kit

    Oh Bill!!!!!

    What if I pick,,,,errrrrr,,,,,,, both ?

Yeah my Midget has 165 horsepower, so what is a little straight line stability worth? Alot would seem to be the correct answer.

It really is a shame that my green Elan is worth so much friggin money or I'd put one of these Toyota 4AGE engines in it too.

I'll bring it by your shop soon, I promise. Just as soon as it is roadworthy I am going to go humiliate this smart @$$ kid in town who drives an S2000.

Don kept trying to talk me into a turbocharger set-up because the header would be so much easier, I just looked at him with a blank stare. I am, by some folks account anyway, a little crazy but I am not certifiable,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,yet.

Have any use for a couple midget transmissions? Condition errrrrr poor? they are in my way and i'll give them away. Also have a 1275 with pistons stuck in their bores and marvel mystery oil has not been able to free them. Might be a good core? Head that was on it is definately usable.

    Re: Front Suspension Kit

    Jay,

If'n yer givin', were a takin'. We can always find something good on these old beaters that may just get another one to stay on the road. The Midget sounds awesome, and it really sounds like it could use a good strong front end! On the Bugeye, we're using modified front uprights with high strength stub axles, and the tapered roller bearing conversion, as well as a real nice tubular sway bar. Cool goodies are arriving daily to be bolted on, and I'm truly enjoying the progress.
