    105 vs. 150 hp TR6?

I will receive delivery of my first TR6 this week.  I am told it has been modified to equal the Euro 150 hp version vs. the emissions controlled 105 hp US version.  I know the difference is with the injection/carburetion system.  Can anyone help me with what to look for under the hood (oops, I mean bonnet) to ascertain which version I currently have?  Any suggestions on doing an aftermarket conversion if I have the 105 hp version?

    Thanks,

Not to pass the buck, Qman, but why not try the folks at "6-pack.org"  A site devoted to the TR6 and TR250. See you there. ken

The injected version looks like this:

I hope this is what you are asking about.

Wow!  OK, well I now know my version does NOT have the injection system and I am quite envious of the one pictured above - sweet!  This is going to be expensive!!  Thanks for sharing.

Converting a US spec car to PI (petrol injection) is a bit of an undertaking, even if you have the complete injection system. The gas tank needs a return line, you will be mounting a 100 psi fuel pump in the trunk with associated lines under the car, the engine needs to have the correct head and camshaft...oh, and don't forget to carry a BIG fire extinguisher. The fire extinguisher line, if I recall correctly, came from Brian Feurstenau of Group 44 when asked about converting to PI.

You can achieve the same power on a US spec engine by rebuilding it with standard hi performance modifications like cam, compression and cylinder head work. (Caution, shameless plug coming) or you can install a Moss supercharger kit and blow those PI cars into the weeds!

    Re: 105 vs. 150 hp TR6?

Has the power been upgraded to "Euro Spec" or has it actually been converted to PI? Getting the stock "US Spec" 105hp engine up to 150hp can be done fairly easily with compression ratio increases, camshaft and timing changes. Carburettor options are plentiful, stock ZS175's w/different needles, SU-HS6 conversion, Weber DGV conversion, Triple ZSs, Triple SUs, Triple Weber DCOEs. The Moss superchrger kit, "Euro Spec" Lucas Petrol Injection (PI), EFI systems etc...  For maximum cool factor you should see RickPatton's EFI/SuperCharger set here... http://topshamautoparts.com/tr6/

Personally, I've gone this route for now...

Or...  You can take a different approach and replace the whole shebang with a modern SFI powerplant like this:

    3.4 Litre SFI V6

This out of the box exceeds 160hp; with a few tweaks it can make more...  Cool

MMM... yummy.  OK I have to ask.  You obviously have pumped up the go section and it seems you have upgreaded the stop part too.  Could you explain the breaking system?
