    Push Rods

    Pulling Push Rods

Have you ever pulled a tappet out of its bore while attempting to remove the pushrod? This can be a real nuisance because it is then necessary to pull the side cover off to replace the tappet. Aside from the time involved, you also have to spring for a new side cover gasket.

When pulling the pushrods out of the block, put a little side pressure on them to break them free of the tappet. It doesn't take much pressure, so don't lean on the push rod and bend it. For anyone who has had to do extra work to put things back together, try this trick, it works quite well.
