Hello all,
I am planning on tuning my 1980 MGB, and would like to solve a problem which has always annoyed me: gearbox gearing and overdrive.
As we all know, there is a noticeable jump in revs between 2nd and 3rd gear; good drop between 3rd and 3O/D, "motorcycle" gearding between 3O/D and 4th, and good cruising 4O/D.
I would like to solve the 2nd-3rd gear rev drop by replacing my LH Overdrive with a Type "A" unit, as found on Triumph TR5/6; this car has a 2500cc 6-cylinder engine, and overdrive on 2nd, 3rd, 4th.
The deal sounds interesting, but I would like to have your thoughts on this.
My first thought is... do the axles turn in the same direction? (clockwise or C/clockwise) Having an MG with 4 reverses and 1 forward gear isn't very appealing...
Thanks,
