Hi Bugeyev8,
I found your remarks very interesting..... I'm not surprised by your opinions on this...... I would also be inclined to believe, as you do, that when the rear differential is set up right, it can endure some very rough service...... After all, these are sports cars were talking about... But, having said that.....I also know that anything mechanical can give out if abused...... I am in the process of rebuilding my diff.... waiting on a few more parts to come in... I will be careful to: get rid of any crispy critters , as mentioned by a previous post..... pulling a rag through there is a great idea, .... have not prepared the axle housing yet , but thanks for pointing that out .... My diff has excessive play ( more than .007 to .010 or .008 to .012.as you and others have pointed out) I didn't get a chance to gage it yet, but I know it's excessive...( pinion & big spider gear)Therefore...creating a bad backlash scenario .... That's probably most responsible for my broken axle......Also couple that with rough driving habits is also a factor, as you have stated..... Thanks again for your input... I continue to be open to all feedback comments from you and others on this informative site! I would also like to add that others down the road will benefit from these posts greatly, as I have... ...
Thanks again, Vic Handel
