Engine Stand Mounting

    Engine Stand Mounting

I am working on rebuilding a 1954 TF-1500 that my father disassembled to the last washer back in 1976 (except for the engine and transmission). The car sat this way until 1990 when he subsequently passed away and left me with this marvelous jigsaw puzzle. I've got a nice selection of manuals, catalogs, tools, etc. for the car. I've been puttering along getting the frame ready, mounting the axles, etc.

It is now time to set the engine back into the frame. However, as it has sat so long I think I had better break into it and make sure there are no mice in the oil pan or scorpions in the valve train, not to mention dust, sand, etc. from having been stored in the desert of SE Utah.

How do I mount this thing to an engine stand? I don't think that four 5/16"(?) bolts are going to hold up the weight of the engine. I'm thinking I need to make a steel plate that matches the bell housing bolt pattern with ears for the engine stand bolts. Then bolt on the plate with all 10 bell housing bolts, then mount the plate and engine to the stand.

Other bright ideas, or is there a ready made mounting plate available?

    Thanks
