Well, I think I have this one dialed, but want to run it past the "experts" here.
After sitting for two months this winter (outside, covered) the MG has a soft brake pedal. Not totally soft, but it takes full stroke to stop, then the pedal is firm. The master cylinder was low when I started the car, but not empty.
I figure that I (a) got some air that has bubbled in the lines somewhere, (b) have had condensation in the system or (c) need to refurb the wheel cylinders. The master is only 5 months old - new from Moss at that time.
I'm going through the diagnostic tree by taking it to a brake shop this weekend and have them replace the brake fluid and power bleed the system. I'll "supervise" of course. And I'll do an inspection of the wheel cylinders while the car is up on the rack, looking for leaks, cracked boots, etc.
What type of fluid should I replace with: regular DOT 3/4 or silicone?
Also, is there anything else I should check on them while I have it in the air?
As always, thanks in advance!
