the only thing that comes to mind is a sharp edge on the spigot mounted on the head, cutting the hose from the inside causing hose failure. Either that or you're using the wrong kind of hose, or OEM British rubber.. 1/2" heater core hose is what you want to use. Just get a section from a local auto parts supplier.
