Re: transmission emission. Update: IT LIVES!!! IT LIVES!!! but...

    Thanks again motorbill,

I spent the afternoon getting the oil pan off and cleaning the surfaces finishing w/brake parts cleaner and have "squared off" the pan's lip with a dowle and rubber mallet against a true plane. I've aquired a jar of the Permatex Aviation gasket maker stuff. While at that particular local parts store I was amazed that they actually had an Oil Pan Gasket set in stock so I'd bought it. Now I'm concerned that something is amiss. The Pan as removed has formed rubber inserts at each end (one showing signs of long term leak so I hope that's the main culprit) but by comparison this new gasktet kit just has two strips of neoprene and cork material. I thought it was plausible but, upon examination/test fitment in the half circular end channels on the pan, the cork strips appear too thin vs channel width or too wide for channel width and short vs height and look like they would try to "lay over" sideways while trying to install when inserted "on edge" which otherwise looks "best". Any suggestions? Is this the right kit? packaging says 1300-1275 Type A Sprite-Midget and was manufactured in UK. I note that the Moss catalouge seems to show inserts that look more like they would be the same as the rubber pieces that I removed...

     Thanks again,

(Tackeling the Transmission side plate tomorrow)

     Edward G.
