    Re: clutch on '77 MGB

I have finally succeeded!  My wife was able to pull the car out of the garage today and drive it down the road for the first time in over 8 years.  Got in into all 4 gears too.

    Still have a couple issues:

    1.  the idle seems to "miss" now and again.  not quite sure if that would be carb adjustments still or something else.  It is idling about 900 and once in awhile , while it sits at idle, it will "miss" or sound like it will "sputter" or like it will stall, but then picks itself back up.

    2.  The miss might be coming from here too, not sure... Yhe fuel filter canister keeps going empty.  I have read other threads about the tank creating a vacuum.  I took the filler cap off, but it doesn't seem to be doing much good.  The fuel pump seems to be working good.  If I take the inlet hose to the filter canister and pull it off, the fuel pours out fine and the canister will refill once reattached.  I can see it continue to fill into the canister but it stops after awhile.  Once it's empty I have to pull the hose off again to get it to refill.  any advice here?

I have to yell out a big THANK YOU to all that have helped me thus far.  I would not have been able to get this far without your help and guidance.  All of your help and my learning and obsessive efforts have finally got this engine roadworthy.  after a few more adjustments to get the idle perfect and the fuel to flow correctly, I can start to work on the body and other cosmetics.

My next task will be tires.  My father in law has bought some good used tire to put on it temporarily(the tires I have now are all dry rotted and 2 go flat in a couple hours.  And then I need to fix the floor panels.  I have been told that the floor panels are very important in these cars to the integrity of the frame.  I also have to replace the exhaust system.

Thanks again for all of the help'

    joel
