Gentlemen,
I have a TF with a 1250 cc engine. It has been running rough for a few weeks now. I put in new NGK plugs, part number BPR7ES, gapped to .021. New plug wires and original style, wire to plug connectors from Moss. Also a new rotor and distributor cap. I left the coil alone because it tested OK with a volt meter. The car still runs rough. However, I just found out that if I pull the plug wire off the #3 plug, while the engine is running, it smoths out. It runs smoothly with the wire about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch away from the plug. Farther away and it gets rough again. It must be the increased resistance required to jump the gap that makes the difference. So, my question is, what would couse this? I came in tonight because it was getting dark. I'll probably change the plugs around tomorrow and try it again. But, I am getting a little tired of this rough running engine and I am hoping that one of you fellows might have the answer!
Thanks for any thoughts.
Dick
