I watched them and they were good. It makes you wonder why we take all this stuff so seriously that sometimes we lose sight of the simple joy of making do with what you have available. It reminded me of working on my projects when I was a broke teenager. What I lacked in funds had to be made up for with ingenuity. I was just thinking of this subject the other day when I was working on my Lotus. Even though I have much better tools now I still seem to end up using a box-end/open-end wrench to do things on it. I even have an air ratchet but I'm sure it has never touched the car. I rarely use the hand ratchet on it. There's something tactile and introspective about using hand tools. They give you a much more intuitive connection to the car. It really helps me get inside the minds of the people who first designed and built the car. With the Lotus this is especially enjoyable because it is practically a handmade car to begin with. It's almost like a discussion with Colin Chapman himself. His design philosophy permeates the car.
