    Too Short for the TR4?

My wife is about 5'4" tall, and it seems that she's too short for our TR4.  Namely, even with the seat fully pushed forward, she has trouble fully depressing the clutch pedal.  Have others experienced this?  What did you do to resolve this problem?

    Thanks,

    Bill

    Bill,

I had a similar problem with the Austin Healey 100-6.

I was 16 years old 5'3" tall and could not reach the pedals in my Father's 100-6. Since I was majoring in Metal Shop class and had access to cutting torches and milling machines I made (2) 2 " pedal extensions for the brake and clutch.  I made sure there were 2 holes in the pedal arm to mount the pedal extensions to the car and 2 holes in the pedal themselves. The process was not complicate basically 2 pieces of 1/4 thick steel 1 and 1/2 inches wide by 2 inches long.

This solved the problem. I am now much older a little taller and have no problems reaching the pedals in my own Healey

Just use a 4 inch by 4 inch block of rubber (suspension spacer) or wood and a hose clam, and clamp the block  to the peddle.  Works fine on my TR3.

    Bill and Wife-

So long as she can see over the dash just cut out a maybe three or four inch thick piece of foam in the shape of the seatback and set it behind her to move her up. When not in use you can store it in the trunk. If you want to go all out you could cover it and use matching piping and maybe a nice Triumph patch on it. Or I'm sure you could go through a whole lot of rig-a-ma-rol with some bracket arrangement that relocates the seat tracks forward.

Hey, how about platform driving shoes?
