 I replaced the steering boots using ones I purchased from Moss ( excellent quality replacement).I now have a question regarding the tightening of tie rod ends. When I went to tighten them down I noticed that the nut and shaft just spins

 Question: Does the shaft on the end of the tie rod end normally spin with the nutn until in is pulled in place and there is force pressing it in to the wheel steering arm?

Question: Do new tie rod ends do this? I do not want to order new ones only find out this is normal?

The tie-rod and nut may just spin freely as you're trying to thread a tie-rod end onto it. The inner end of the tie rod is a low-friction ball joint at the steering rack, and there's nothing there that can resist rotation. So, you just need to grip the tie rod with something to prevent it from rotating as you're threading on the tie-rod end (I use a pair of pliers with tape on the jaws to prevent marring of the rod).

If you jack-up the tie rod it will rest firmly in ist place and you can tighten it withou having it spin.

i am planning to remove the tie rod in my car, so how will i gonna do that? any advise? thanks.
