Hi you old goat. (sorry, I couldn't resist)
The GHN number is the car number, not the engine. But it's not important anyway except to show that you do have a 1970 car.
Either the entire motor has been swapped, which is why Motorbill was asking for an engine number. Or the water pump and pulley have been changed. Either is a pretty common occurence.
434-030 is the correct long water pump for the 1970 and it would be matched to a deep pulley and a steel 6 blade fan. In '72 a shorter water pump was installed with a matching shallow pulley. For a short time the steel fan was retained, which was spaced away from the pulley with a thick alloy spacer. The steel fan was replaced with a plastic fan and thinner alloy spacer in approx. 1973. The Moss catalog has the exact change points.
The 1970 pump would be 4.15" from the block to the front of the pulley flange. The 1972 and up pumps would be 3.26"
Check the dimensions of the supplied pump, just to make sure you didn't get an incorrectly built one. But I'm thinking that you need the 1972 and later pump to match your pulley and fan.
