    Choke cable

Really now, how much of the dash am I going to have to take apart to replace this choke cable?

Any helpful hints are very readily welcomed.

How big are your hands?  I replaced one without removing anything.  It is a tight fit under the dash.

    Re: Choke cable

I removed the cowling from under the steering column, and I think if I move the heater duct that runs along the drivers side of the center console, I may be able to get my hand up there.  I just figured I'd ask before I went through with it and ended up disappointed.  If you say it can be done, my hands are pretty small.

    Re: Choke cable

One option is to just use the cable housing and run a new cable down through the sheath. It is a bit of a fiddle and you kind of screw it in following the curve of the metal housing. I think it was ALOT easier to do. It took me about 10 minutes to feed it through.

    Re: Choke cable

Well, the reason I'm replacing it is the pull knob and part of the shaft it's connected to is sitting next to my shifter.  So, I'm not sure if I can do it that way, but I'll see if I can feed the cable through the dash.

    Re: Choke cable

Do you mean the DPO mounted the choke near the shifter or is the handle and th metal it attaches to is broken off and laying on the console?

If it is broken off in the car and you can get ahold of any part of it, you could disconnect it from the carb linkage and pull it through the sheath into the cockpit. If it snapped off and you cannot reach any part of it from inside then you could pull it out via the linkge end. the end result is the same, you have an intact 'pipeline' to run the actual cable through from the cockpit to the linkage
