    Do I, or Don't I?

OK guys and gals, please chime in here...

I have an opportunity to buy a 1975 Midget for $2700. Mechanically it is in good to great shape, cosmetically there is some rot on 1 rear quarter panel and the carpets are tired. It will need a bit of bodywork and paint, and maybe new carpets. I can get the bodywork and paint job professionally done for VERY little money (about $50 plus materials).

I don't remember exactly how many miles are on it, but it's around 50k.

It was a "barn find" in the spring by a buddy of mine. I helped him rebuild the clutch master and slave cylinders, other than that, the car was sound. He drove and enjoyed it for the summer, and now wants to move on. He's more of a "Ford Model A" kind of guy.

Should I buy this for the price or let it go?

    davey,

Have you ever driven one of the late cars? It's very different from the one you have

Actually, I haven't. The closest I've come was driving my brother's (guru - Science Guy) '78 MGB.

I know that it's only 59 horsepower as opposed to the booming 63 of my car, but other than that, how is it different?

Well, I can't comment on the car, but ask yourself this:

Does the car grab you for a particular reason or do you just want it because its there? (there's nothing wrong with that by the way). Would you kick yourself for letting it go?

    Good luck whatever you decide.

    Cheers,

    Ed

Grab it and enjoy it..for that money you can not go wrong.  English cars are fun and parts are found everywhere.

Thank goodness - it was the suspense of not knowing that I couldn't stand.

Hooray for another one in safe hands!

    Have fun,
