 ***UPDATE***  05-29-08   Well, after some agonizing efforts, I've confirmed that on a '67 Sprite, there is NOT a hidden location for the VIN.  On a lighter note, I was able to track down the last owner of mine that actually registered the car (3 owners before me) - he was kind enough to sign all the required DMV forms and I was able to get the title reissued and transferred to me yesterday!!!  Oddly enough, the DMV agent simply pulled up the last plate number with all the last registration history and literally spun his monitor around and let me write down the vin!

**If anyone knows where / how I can order a replacement VIN tag (along with an engine and body tag) I'd appreciate it.

Hello All,

Does anyone know of a "hidden" location of the VIN number on a '67 Sprite?  The plates are missing on the one i just picked up and the owner "lost" the title -- fearing i've made a huge mistake with this purchase, i'm reaching out to anyone who can help me locate the VIN so i can get a replacement title.

Check this. Right frame rail , Near or on the frame pad of the motor mount. It should only be the last 5 or 6 digits. I have a picture of my '77 B frame at home I will try to upload tonight.  

The all the pictures of the tear down are on another computer. I did get another look at the hard copy. On the '77B the frame # is on the right side rear mount strap (stiffener) for the cross member, motor side, 1/4" up from the lower edge. Plese let me know if you find yours.
