Hi..

 I'm in the process of rebuilding my 1098 CG engine, and am looking for a suitable camshaft. I have a lead on a used 1275 cam, but hearing differing opinions as to whether it will work in my 1098. An expert at Moss said it will never tune properly. Another expert said it should be fine, but I have to swap the oil pump (no big deal)... Any more opinions? Or should I splurge for a new one?

 I did indeed anticipate your response.... but what if the 1275 camshaft was in very good condition? Is the lobe timing much different? etc...

Lift and timing are not a problem. The lobe width on the two is different. The lifters are different. As you already know, the oil pump drive is different. I'm not certain, so look further, but you could wind up with rocker geometry problems as well. Have you got Vizard's book?

Problem solved... I found a new (NOS) Kent 266 cam for a 1098 at a good price. And it's a pin drive, so I can keep my pump, which is in good shape. Yes, I have his book...
