as you can see from my avatar the bolt hole for the clevis on my clutch pedal is beat up. i cant seem to find a new one as of yet. Does anyone know were i can find one or should i weld grind and re-drill it.

    Re: clutch pedal

If a new one is really nowhere to be found, I'd be welding appropriate sized washers (#8 grade if you can find them), to both sides. Do not quench the welds with water! Let the welds either air cool or cool them with used motor oil. But then again, I just may be a hack!

Are there any parts cars available? You might be able to pick one up cheep.

    Guys,

Washers?! No way. Have the thing solidly MIG welded, grind it to original thickness, then redrill in a press so as to get the hole on axis. Then use a deburring tool to very slightly chamfer the hole edges, Get a new clevis pin, and don't forget to lube with a light grease. Thereafter, do so regularly.

Like I said, I may be a hack!

thanks to both of you. I think i will try welding it and then get back to you and tell you how it went

    Re: clutch pedal

it work out well. i welded it slowly and grinded it all back down to stock shape. then i drilled the hole a little farther forward, though the welded section is probley stronger then before i thought it would add a little more strength.

    Re: clutch pedal

    new,

Good for you! Now, keep it lubricated. I've often thought these freakin' things should have grease fittings on them. (not sure how you'd work that out!) There is actually a spray white lube out there. It comes out liquid and then sort of "puffs up" like shave gel. The theory is that it'll get into a mechanism such as a door hinge like a penetrating oil and then turn to grease so that it'll hang around a while. Well, it sorta works. You still need to use it regularly in an application like this, but it hangs in there better than plain oil and it does get into the interface better than just trying to force some lube in there with your finger.
