Ed Holland inspired me. I have a weird noise coming from my lady. Even though she LOVES riding in the sprite, she complains that her back hurts when we get out. She's predisposed to back problems anyway, but is this a noise that I should be worried about? Do you think that I'll be ok here or is there something that needs attention?

There is only one cure of which I have heard for this problem. Now understand, I'm not saying this is MY idea, nor is it MY suggestion. I've just HEARD about it. It's a kind of radical surgery. First, a standard passengerseatectomy is performed. Next, radical welded in tonneauplasty is done to the entire right side of the cockpit. This has cured the complaint in 100% of cases, I'm told, although the prognosis includes, in follow up studies, curtailed priviliges of various sorts, and what may be percieved as in home deafness on the part of the driver. This perception is actually caused by the lack of sound coming from the former source of the noise. I sure hope this helps, my friend.

The good doctor has spoken. Your cure sounds like it MAY work, but what would definitely work would be a passenger-transplant (for a while, anyway)!

Very good guys. Mine squeaks occasionally as we approach tight corners at speed, but this usually means the cabernet sauvignon reservoir is running low... A top up usually restores giggling within the usual tolerances given in Haynes.

Ed, you may have nailed it! Maybe I just need to lubricate the noise! I'm pretty sure that my model does not use the cabernet. I think I should use margaritas. Any suggestions on particular weight or SAE #? Should I use ZDDP with that?

You know guys I think you do things just to rattle my chain! Weird noise indeed...What about all the "weird noises" that come from you gentlemen when it's our favorite past-time that you endure...suffer in silence, I think not! Big sighs, when shopping takes too long, big groans when we take too long to get ready, nasty grumbles when it's time to spend a beautiful top down day inside visiting the "outlaws" I could go on but I think you've got the picture. My other half doesn't really enjoy the "B"as much as I do, so many times I leave him at home, just as I prefer to stay home sometimes when he's doing his "guy" stuff. As to how to "fix" the weird noise....an orthopedic back support cushion that you can purchase at any Wal-mart pharmacy, very portable, easy to stow in the boot when not needed and just the right touch to say" I really enjoy our time together." I am curious, does this weird noise happen at all during the hours spent working on the car,or is it mysteriously absent? Does this noise get louder when it's off to Moss for more parts? Does this noise get more high pitch when you are deep in thought( and haven't said a word in hours) about what could possibly be wrong with the oil pressure, tyre pressure, electrical current..... Not to worry davey I don't think your weird noise is anything too serious...perhaps the old adage rings true..."its the squeeky wheel that gets the grease." Cheers...Rita P.S. I love you guys!!!

Rita, and guys, As stated, I have only heard of this "fix" for right side noise. I have never been afflicted with it on any of my many vehicles. We have shared the enjoyment of motorized transport together for 40 years, often in two seat devices of a rather wicked nature, without much real acrimony. Perhaps the reality of this would make some of my male compatriates envious, but it has its down side. There tends to be rather less moderating influence. Let me assure those who may think this is "A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one." (The Band, from "Up On Cripple Creek) that one can get one's self in over one's head way too easily when this is the case. Perhaps this is why married men tend to live longer. Even I have limits, though. When approaching triple digit speeds inappropriately, or when about to suggest digitally how another driver might enjoy congress with himself, I have a "stupid limiter" which goes off much like a rev limiter might moderate an engine too enthusiastically run. This is an alarm which, instead of buzzing or squealing, emits a loud "BIIIIIILLLL!!!!" sound. I know instantly what this means. I usually let out a little sly laugh which resets the system as I slow down, or gather my temper, whichever is needed at that moment. Occaissionally, I have to stop and reprogram the unit. This is a delicate procedure. If I overdo it, it ceases to work entirely for quite some time until it reboots. This can take up to a week in extreme cases! But, like any system, it's not perfect, and can become too sensitive, going off rather more than necessary. Generally though, over the lifespan of the unit, er relationship, a wonderful balance has been struck, wherein we are both still fully functional and able to enjoy transport experiences. Geez I'm lucky. By the way. davey, do you let your lady read your threads/posts? Just curious.

Rita, the noise is thankfully silent when I'm working on the Sprite, or HER car, or changing the toilet paper, or doing the dishes, or vacuuming, ...you get the picture. So I guess that I answered my own question on how to silence the noise...hu, yard work ought to do it? I do like your idea of a seat pad however, that way, she could actually HELP with some of the chores around here so we can share some time together, the best of BOTH worlds! Bill, Yes, I do allow her to read the threads, but I tell her my screen name is motorbill66....Thanks Cerino!

I have to think of a better April Fool's joke for next year - maybe the announcement of a new product to get rid of weird noises? I think BMW had one where they announced a GPS unit that could be tied into your stove & kitchen so that it could time a meal perfectly cooked upon your arrival home. *****
